I got called to speak on Sunday!?

Help!!! Didn't anyone call my bishop and tell him what a complete wreck I am in public. Now, not only will I scare any potential friends off but I'll make all the kids cry with my violent shaking and inane babble....I can see it now...

This being my desperate cry for help, I thought I'd reach out for any advice, words of wisdom, possible substitute volunteers??? My topic is "Having the love of God always in your heart". Do any good talks come to mind? I'm already reading Elder Bednar's "Tender Mercies of the Lord" which has been very helpful.

Any and all ideas would be truly appreciated. xoxo and thanks!

Put all the talk material down this instant. I just booked a flight, I should arrive just in time on Sunday morning to give the talk. Don't even worry another minute!-- Just go to sacrament, sit in the congregation, and act like someone else is suppose to be giving the talk....

You will do great. Just think of the room filled with all the people that love you and just speak from the Spirit. It will never let you down. You are awesome and if I could I would be there to help watch the girls and whatever else you needed. I love you all and can't tell you how much I love this blog. It is the first thing I do in the morning.

I always remind myself that everyone in the congregation is just glad that it isn't them having to give a talk. People are far less critical than you imagine them to be! I'm sure you will be great.

I agree you are going to do great. Remember it is not really you speaking but the spirit will put the words into your mouth. However, I do love the talk by Elder Bednar. In 2006 my Relief Society President challenged us to keep a "tender mercies" journal. This was great success and you are amazed at the many "tender mercies" you get in your life every day. I especially like the part about D&C 121:34-35 which talks about how if are hearts are set upon the world we can not be chosen to see the tender mercies in our lives. I have also sent you a link by Elder Erying which might be helpful. Again you are going to do great and my prayers will be with you.

I always think that when you have the love of God in your heart then satan can not dwell with you. Satan can't be anywhere God is, so striving to have God in your heart, i.e. the Spirit with you will keep you safe from the evil influences of satan. When we have God in our hearts then we "act" like Him and we "act" in His behalf. We serve our fellow man (not just members of the church) and we become pliable instruments in His hands for good. Good Luck, Love, Mom
